At Brattleboro Walk-In Clinic (BWIC), removing insurance barriers means every patient receives the time, trust, and care they deserve—catching serious health issues early and building lasting relationships beyond a single visit.
— John S. Daly, MD & Board Member

Meet Julia, a woman in her fifties, who came to us with mild nausea. Her visit led to a diabetes diagnosis. Thanks to our dedicated team and strong local partnerships, Julia began managing her condition promptly. Her story is just one of many at the Brattleboro Walk-In Clinic.

Many adults aged 18 to 64 in our community struggle to access affordable primary care due to lack of insurance or high co-pays. For them, BWIC provides vital weekly primary medical care. In 2024, we served patients employed by 50 different employers, illustrating the diverse range of working adults who rely on us.

Our volunteer medical team spends the time each patient needs, building trust and managing health issues with compassion. Supported entirely by grassroots donations and volunteers—and without reliance on grants or federal funding—BWIC remains flexible, community-driven, and ready to meet evolving local needs aligned with our mission.

Our Strength Is Our Community of Grassroots Advocates
In 2024, BWIC’s $46,500 budget covered all operating expenses and the salary of our administrator, who manages the Clinic’s weekly operations. Yet our true backbone is our volunteers—medical providers, nurses, and clerical staff—who contribute in-kind services valued at more than twice our annual budget. Our donors are the lifeblood of BWIC. Their generosity sustains and energizes our work.

As of August 2025, the BWIC team has provided quality primary care to 182 patients, 43% of whom were new to the Clinic—a 38% increase over last year.

Looking Ahead to 2026
As demand grows, we are committed to:
•        Expanding Clinic hours to serve more patients
•        Strengthening community partnerships
•        Recruiting new volunteers to sustain high-quality care
•        Continuing board development to strengthen mission support

Last year, 30 generous donors, including 16 families and 13 local businesses, contributed $13,874, allowing us to replace our roof and purchase an Automated External Defibrillator.

This year, we aim to raise $20,000 by growing our community to 50 supporters.

We invite you to join us in ensuring that patients like Julia continue to receive essential, compassionate primary care.

Your gift of any size will help to keep the Brattleboro Walk-In Clinic strong, responsive, and community-powered.
